Tips for Refreshing Your Health Routine Just In Time for Spring

April 15, 2024

Spring is here, bringing beautiful weather, brightened moods, and a wealth of new possibilities. When most of us think of the start of Spring, our minds go to “Spring cleaning” and refreshing our homes. But what about refreshing our health and daily routines? Let’s talk about a few ways you can refresh your health routine just in time for Spring.

Start your day early

For those of us who are “not a morning person”, this first tip can seem intimidating. Starting a new routine can be slow to start, but once you become accustomed to it, you will quickly feel the benefits! By waking up earlier, you will have more hours of sunlight, thus giving you more time to not only get your work done but have even more time to do the things you love.

If this seems particularly difficult, try going to bed at an earlier time and gradually set your alarms earlier each day, giving you the chance to get in the groove of getting out of bed earlier. According to Amerisleep, “Waking up early offers numerous advantages, including the ability to eat healthier, regular exercise opportunities, avoiding peak traffic, reduced stress levels, higher morning energy, and increased happiness”.

Spend more time outdoors

As the weather improves, finding ways to spend more time outdoors can boost your health AND your mood. A great way to do this is simply going for a walk. Whether it’s a walk through the park or running errands, walking can give you the exercise you need without wearing you out. Walking regularly can boost your metabolism and help you stay in shape. It also helps to reduce stress and generally put you in a better mood! Try walking with a friend or going for hike. Be sure to wear sunscreen when spending time outdoors in order to protect your skin and keep you healthy.

Fill your body with fresh foods and healthy drinks

Spring is a great time to find fresh, in-season produce at your grocery store or local farmer’s market. According to Teami, eating raw fruits and vegetables can give your body the detox it needs after the winter months, leaving you feeling refreshed, fueled, and energized. They also provide the necessary vitamins and nutrients essential for a healthy body. In addition to fresh foods, try swapping your daily coffee for tea or flavored water. You will get the hydration you need and avoid energy crashes that usually come after consuming caffeine.

Revitalize your fitness routine

A lot of us may be finding it hard to get back into our fitness routines after winter and the holiday season. An easy way to kick start your exercise journey is to choose something you enjoy doing. It doesn’t have to be going to the gym. You can try jogging, swimming, yoga, Zumba, the possibilities are endless. By simply choosing something you enjoy doing, you are setting yourself up for success and are more likely to stick with it. Exercise is a great mood-booster and stress reliever.

Start this Spring season off with a refreshed health routine and focus on what makes you feel like the best version of yourself.
